Signs Your Parent Needs a Caregiver

If you are concerned about the wellbeing of an aging parent, you should know the signs that indicate a senior might be in need of assistance.

Warning Signs

When your parent struggles to complete even simple, everyday tasks, that’s a big warning sign that you may need to hire extra help for them. Some of these tasks might include:

•    Eating
•    Bathing
•    Getting dressed
•    Using the restroom

How to Notice Warning Signs

Unless your parents live with you, it may be hard to detect these clues. You can ask your mother or father if they are having difficulty with these tasks, but it’s possible they won’t be upfront about it. In that case, be on the lookout out for poor hygiene or unkempt hair or clothing. These could indicate that your mom or dad has trouble bathing, dressing, and/or grooming themselves. Also, try to pay extra attention to them when you’re over at their house. If they have trouble just moving from place to place, it’s a sign that perhaps they are struggling with these other activities, too.

What Now?

If you’ve determined your parent needs some extra assistance to improve their daily life, it’s time to start looking for personal caregivers. You should click here if you are looking for quality personal care in Vista.
